Rote learning still plagues our system, students study only to score marks in exams, and sometimes to crack exams like IIT JEE, AIIMS or GATE. The colonial masters introduced education systems in India to create clerks and civil servants, and we have not deviated much from that pattern till today.

During earlier days, students were preparing for bank officers or clerks and now they are lined up to become engineers or doctors. For each of these there are thousands of mediocre and terrible schools, collages, coaching classes and universities that do not meet even minimum standards and run in shops like spaces.

Priya Jivrajani, that’s me, I too became a victim of the same education system and became a software engineer. But, during my first IT job only I felt like I am trapped in some other’s body or stereotype. I am not meant to be like this. I left my IT job and joined an established pharma company as a Social Media Manager. I manage company’s social accounts, online marketing and also run my blog which are based on relations, life and counselling for students.

If you really want to try something different, nobody can stop you, just break the rules and make your own path.
