#223, Nirukt N Dave, A Music Editor

By Faces of Rajkot, June 10, 2016

Life begins at the end of your comfort zone. I’m continually trying to make choices that put me against my own comfort zone. As long as you’re uncomfortable, it means you’re growing. My name is Nirukt N. Dave. Very unfortunate part of our education system is that it doesn’t help you select what you love to do so as a part of the herd; I too chose to be an engineer because everybody wants to do it, probably easier and traditional way to be a good son even though my parents never forced me to opt it. Well, I broke my boundaries, quit engineering and took Dairy Science.

After completion of the B. Tech., I worked with 2 giants, Mother Dairy (for 2 months) and Amul brand (Vidya Dairy) for 2 years but again I felt it is traditional, boring and not my cup of tea so, I wanted quit, even though I was enjoying working there. I appeared for entrance exam of FTII (Film and Television Institute of India), cleared it and went to Pune to study sound engineering. I perused Post Graduate Certificate in Sound recording and television engineering. This field really attracted me lot because there are not even few people from Rajkot those who have explored this field. I am very much into exploring the unexplored.

After sound engineering, I worked as sound designer in a movie called ‘Aas’ a movie from Uttarakhand and claimed ‘Best Public Choice Award’ for the film at Delhi Film Festival. I did sound designing for many short films and also worked for 2 Gujarati movies “Bap re Bap” and “Roll no. 56” as Sync sound and sound designer.

I also worked as a Music editor for many TV serials that you see like ‘Ek bund Ishq’ and ‘Nisha aur uski cousins’ from Star TV, ‘Hello Pratibha’ on Zee, ‘Jaane kya hoga Ram’ from Life ok, ‘Boys’ from Big Magic and some more. Music director of all these serials is Shri Rajiv Bhatt.

Thinking to bring awareness and to do knowledge workshop we, Aanjaneya group organised 2 workshops in Rajkot and many of you took advantage of that. I, ‘Sound recording and mixing workshop, I had invited a mixing engineer Vijay Dayal from YashRaj films and had invited Shri Pankaj Tripathi jee, an actort from Gangs of Vasseypur for my second workshop on acting to give valuable inputs and knowledge about different aspects of cinema. That was my way to give back something to Rajkot and lay a channel to the Indian cinema for Rajkot.

In the end, I would like to quote an example of Mr Amitabh Bachhan who moved out of his comfort zone and accepted challenging looks and roles and we do not need any proof for his mega success.
